Inaugural Entry

So this is it!
My first blog entry hosted on FAA... and I'm excited!
I love that everything is right here.. handy... ready for me to explore and build upon.

It's a lot like photography.
I rarely set out with a singular focus in mind (except in the case of portrait sessions). I'm one of those photographers who see something interesting in even the most mundane of subjects. My friends lovingly call this kind of photography: "Tildeography" (lol) .

Once I get everything populated that I want to have hosted here; you'll see entries with a a bit more substance to them.

But for now:
The photo here was taken using a Canon EOS 50-D at a small-town, Spring celebration called "Mt. Hermon Plow Days".
Agriculture is a big part of the area's economy and lifestyle... so as a nod to the way things used to be... area farmers and their teams descend upon the site with pomp and circumstance.

There are old-fashioned games, food, equipment shows and ... a petting zoo!
People go to support the tilling of the acreage in whatever way they can for each other.

Oh wait!
I left one thing out!

They plow by hand and hoof!
That's right... they walk behind the horses (or donkey or oxen as the case may be!) ... hand-guiding the plow and disc and tampers, etc.

This year was my first time attending the event and if I figure out how to add more than one photo in a blog entry here... I'll be sharing more of the actual plow teams. It was a fascinating experience that I love sharing with others.

If you're curious... and want to see more of my photos on the subject (including the shots mentioned above), just click the "More information" button below.
